Lutheran World Relief Quilting “Boot Camp” at Christ the King Lutheran Church at 1125 Tribble Gap Road, Cumming, GA.
It’s that time of the year again, where we make our final surge to get our quilts ready to be sent off for distribution around the world by Lutheran World Relief. At this time, we have 59 quilts ready to ship. We are trying to reach our goal of 100 quilts, and it looks like we might be able to reach it and more with your help. The date this year is Thursday, July 14 – Saturday, July 16. Please bring your sewing machine, scissors, thread, a walking foot, if you have one, but it’s not necessary and a lunch. Come for a day, three days or just an hour. There are many steps in making a quilt, and a knowledge of sewing is not a prerequisite. This is a great chance to meet that person you have seen in our church, but don’t know their name or history. Or see someone you know from Christ the King. Also, we still accept clean or new sheets for our backings. So, if you are cleaning out that linen closet and thinking“what am I going to do with these old (but not ripped or torn) sheets”. Well, we’re your solution. We can use any size sheet, including fitted. We also make use of pillow cases.
